Student Responsibilities
1.
Students are responsible for scheduling tutoring sessions
through the TutorTrac system. TutorTrac is available at
https://tutortrac.sdstate.edu.
2.
Students may receive a total of two hours of tutoring
each week for various subjects, with a limit of one hour per
week for each subject area. Tutoring sessions may be one-on-one
or small group. Special requests for tutoring should be made to
the Tutoring Coordinator.
3.
Students are expected to attend all tutoring
appointments. If a student cancels a scheduled session, it is
his or her responsibility to reschedule. Students should give
a minimum of 24 hours notice for all cancellations.
4.
If a student no shows a tutoring appointment,
he or she must meet with the Tutoring Coordinator or other
designated staff member to determine future access to tutoring
services. After a second no show, the student must pay
for tutoring sessions. It is the student’s responsibility to
know when his or her tutoring sessions are scheduled.
5.
Students must prepare for tutoring sessions.
This includes but is not limited to: arriving at the session on
time; attempting the assignment before the tutoring session;
reviewing the subject matter prior to the tutoring session;
bringing text books, notes, assignments, and an exam schedule /
syllabus to the session; and preparing questions for the tutor.
6.
Students must not expect tutors to complete their work for them
or to work through entire assignments during tutoring sessions.
The purpose of tutoring is not to complete assignments, but to
learn material. Tutors may assist with or assign problems
similar to those assigned in class during the tutoring session.
7.
It is mandatory that students attend all classes regularly.
Students must present an attendance form initialed by their
instructor for the course in which the student receives tutoring
to verify attendance. Tutoring is not a substitute for class
attendance. Students who do not attend their scheduled
classes regularly will be ineligible for tutoring services.
8.
Students must complete two evaluations during the semester(s) in
which they receive services.
Students have the option to complete evaluations more frequently
by visiting the Wintrode Tutoring Program website.
9.
Students who request tutoring in a course for which
tutoring services are not provided may consider the following
options.
ü
View the SDSU Academic Supports hand-out available in the
Wintrode Center and on the Wintrode Tutoring Program website.
ü
Meet with and request additional assistance from their
professor/department.
ü
Form study groups with other students in the class.
Utilize subject specific study strategies – talk with the
Tutoring Coordinator for more information.
