Meet the Tutors

	Kyle Dvoracek Chem 108 My name is Kyle Dvoracek. I am a Senior Pharmacy Major and am in my third semester of tutoring. Chemistry is my favorite subject, especially Organic Chemistry.  When I'm not tutoring or learning about drugs, I play drumset for the theater department and have performed in all of the musicals for SDSU since my freshman year.  I also used to teach drum lessons and drumlines all around the region.  I'm a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at SDSU, where I teach the new member classes. Certification:  Level 3 - Master Tutor   Fun Fact:  I recently performed in the combo for the musical Cabaret in which I was required to be in complete drag.
	Casey Mortensen Biol 151, 153 I am a sophomore Biology/Pre-Med major.  I tutor Biology 101 and 103.  I started tutoring during the Fall 2007 semester.  After I graduate I plan on pursuing a career as an OB/GYN physician.  Certification:  Level 3 - Master Tutor Fun Fact:  I love wiener dogs.
	Joe Rose Chem 106 My name is Joe Rose.   I am a junior in the Pharmacy program from Owatonna, MN.  This is my 3rd semester tutoring.  I mainly tutor Chem 106, but also work with many other chemistry courses.  I play bass clarinet in symphonic  band and I am active in Kappa Psi and APhA-ASP.  I was also in the PRIDE marching band and was an anatomy intern.  I love all sports, especially disc golf and ultimate, and I am obsessed with the New York Jets.  I am also left handed! Certification:  Level 3 - Master Tutor Fun Fact:  I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in 3 minutes.
	Maria Tracy Biol 325, Phys 113 Hey! My name is Maria Tracy. I'm a sophomore from Pierre, SD, and this is my second semester of tutoring. I'm a nutritional science major hoping to get into medical school or dental school (not sure which one I want to do yet). I love to play sports, workout, watch movies, and travel. I'm even going to Costa Rica this summer for 4 weeks!! Certification:  Level 3 - Master Tutor   Fun Fact: I'd rather eat a plate of fresh veggies and fruit than a pizza.
	Emily Tschetter Biol 325, Micr 231 Hi! I'm Emily Tschetter, originally from Brookings and a Biology/Pre-Dentistry major while also studying LOTS of chemistry and Spanish. I hope to go to dental school for orthodontia or oral surgery and eventually have a private practice and travel to underdeveloped countries and provide them with dental care. I keep myself busy with competing for the SDSU Women's Swimming and Diving team, participating in the Spanish Club, the Honors College and its student organization, Golden Key Honour Society, and I love to travel. Certification:  Level 1 Fun Fact:  A couple fun/interesting facts about myself are (1) that I traveled to South Africa this summer to volunteer in AIDS clinics for a few weeks and (2) I just learned how to play dominoes.
	Catherine Grandorff Span 101 – 330 My name is Catherine Grandorff, and I’m in my third year at SDSU studying English and Spanish, emphasizing in literature.  I love learning about world cultures through books, television, and travel.  Certification:  Level 1 Fun Fact:  I spent last summer in Spain and look forward to spending next summer in Latin America.
	Paul Kappel Chem 112, 114 My name is Paul Kappel. I am a senior at SDSU with a biology major and a chemistry minor.  After graduating from SDSU, I plan to attend physical therapy school.  I enjoy playing sports like basketball, golf, and football. Certification:  Level 1   Fun Fact: I am a huge Packers fan.
	Matt Larson Biol 221, Chem 328 and Micr 231 My name is Matt Larson and I am from Paynesville, Minnesota.  I am a 2006 graduate from New London-Spicer High School.  I am a junior biology major with pre-optometry specialization.  I will tutor Organic Chemistry and Microbiology, and am also a lab intern for the General Microbiology laboratory.  When I’m not studying, I play Mariokart Wii and compete on funtrivia.com.  Certification:  Level 1 Fun Facts: I participated in State knowledge bowl my senior year of high school. I had Lasik surgery recently.  It rocks! I broke my nose in the 8th grade.  It leans slightly to the left.
	Sara Pepper Chem 328 Hi!  My name is Sara Pepper and I am a biology for pre-med major entering my third year at State.  By the time I graduate, I will also have chemistry and Spanish minors.  I am from small town, Geddes, South Dakota, about 180 miles from here, where I graduated with 12 others.  I am involved in many activities on and off campus which keep me busy.  Right now, any spare time I have is spent looking into medical schools and trying to decide which will be a good fit for me.  I am hoping to one day become a pediatrician because I enjoy working with kids and I think it would be very rewarding.  For now, I am content with gaining the knowledge that I will need in the future.  This is my first semester tutoring through this program. I will be working with chemistry 108 and I am excited to meet you!   Fun Fact:  My high school class (Class of 2006!) was the second to last class to ever graduate from Geddes High School.  (In the fall of 2007, the school consolidated.)

	Mike Anderson Econ 301, 302, 330 My name is Mike Anderson and I grew up on a farm outside of Belview, Minnesota, which is near Marshall.  I am a junior majoring in Agriculture Business with an Agriculture Marketing Minor and I will (hopefully) graduate in four years.  Spring 2009 will be my first semester tutoring and I’m looking forward to the experience.  In my free time I enjoy hunting, reading, golfing, cooking, and watching movies. Fun fact: I spent my last spring break backpacking across the United Kingdom.
	Jarred Entringer Biol 325 My name is Jarred Entringer and I tutor Biology 325 (Physiology).  I am still floating between majors but know for sure I want to be in the health field.  I am from the big town of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, and am currently in my third year at SDSU.  In my spare time when I am not studying I enjoy working out at the wellness center, fishing, hunting, and sleeping.  Fun Fact:  I am on the dissection team doing something I never imagined myself doing when I first came to SDSU as an engineer major.
	Elizabeth King Acct 210, 211 Hi. My name is Elizabeth King. I am a junior Economics Major, with an accounting minor. I am an Eagan, MN native. I've been apart of the Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band since Fall 2006 and am also a member and current president of the Honors College Student Organization. In my spare time I love watching movies and going bowling. This is my first semester tutoring and I am very excited.   Fun Fact: This summer I caught an 18 inch small-mouth Bass on Lake Mile Lacs.
	Kris Kirchner Chem 114 I am a pre-pharmacy student from Estherville, Iowa.  Currently, I live in Mathews Hall and hold a Learning Community Coordinator position there.  In my free time I like watching sports.  I am a huge Minnesota Twins fan.   Fun Fact: My hometown high school mascot is the Midgets
	Sarah McMahon Phys 111, 211 My name is Sarah McMahon and I am a freshman Engineering Physics Major.  I am from a farm northwest of Hartford, SD and recently graduated from West Central High School.  I am excited to tutor because I love helping people understand tough subjects.  On campus, I am also involved in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Honors College Student Organization (HCSO), and a FOCUS bible study.  In the long-run I hope to teach but we will see where life takes me.   Fun Fact:  Last summer I was a part of the Princeton-Gran Sasso (Italy!) summer school.
	Kylee Shotkoski Biol 101, 103 I'm a sophomore Biology/Pre-Med major. I am from Sioux Falls, SD but, I also lived in Nebraska, California, and Colorado for parts of my life. In my spare time I love to spend time with my dog, Augustus, paint, and of course hang out with my friends & family. I really enjoy the winter. I like snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing. Fun Fact:  I shot my first duck & goose this year. And as a child I use to be in love with Walker Texas Ranger, not Chuck Norris, but the character Walker.
	Andy Taecker Biol 153 Hi my name is Andrew Taecker and I'm a junior at SDSU pursuing a degree in Pre-med Biology. I am originally from Chamberlain SD, which is just east of the Missouri river. I enjoy anything outdoors, but my main hobbies are hiking, scuba diving, hunting, and traveling. My future goal is to attend medical school and pursue a career in emergency medicine.   Fun Fact: I am an avid traveler and some of the places I have visited are Mexico, England, Belgium, Netherlands and, my favorite, Ireland.
	Randy Thelen Chem 112, 114 I am a Junior Clinical Lab Sciences major from Redfield, SD, and I want to go into Pharmacy or Dentistry.  Chemistry is very interesting to me especially when it is applied to the real world.  I am involved in ASP and Colleges against Cancer and I just started tutoring.  I recently turned 21 and made a trip to Las Vegas.  I am already excited for summer. Fun Fact:  I would rather ride my bike than drive somewhere.
	Jan Froehlich Phys 111 Hi!  I’m Jan Froehlich.  I’m the “senior” tutor at Wintrode.  My  degrees are in Civil Engineering and Industrial Management.  I was a faculty member in the College of Engineering for a long time.  After resigning in 2001, I began tutoring just because I have fun working with students and wanted to pay for gas to drive into Brookings to have lunch with friends.  Besides being an avid reader and belonging to 2 book clubs at the public library, I volunteer for Red Cross Disaster Relief and Habitat for Humanity.  I’ve done disaster relief after Hurricanes Katrina, Ernesto and Gustav and the Great Plains tornados and floods.  I have also gone Habitat for Humanity home building in Biloxi, MS.  And, yes, I can sleep on a cot in a room with 200 snoring people! Certification:  Level 3 – Master Tutor Fun Fact:  I completed 2 marathons – not “first” but “finisher”.
