Student Handbook 2008-2009
Welcome to the
College of General
Studies!
The
College of General Studies is located in
North Medary Commons on
the west side of
campus. The College of General Studies
assists
students who are unsure of which
major they would like to
choose. As an un-
declared student, you will choose classes
required of all students – core classes – as well as courses
for career and major exploration. The Career Planning course
(GS 101) is strongly recommended. It is generally expected that
students will be ready within 2 semesters to declare their
major.
The College of General Studies also administers
many of the pre-professional programs at SDSU:
Medicine,
Physician’s
Assistant,
Dentistry,
Optometry,
Chiropractic
Medicine,
Law,
Ministry,
and
Mortuary
Science.
Students in pre-professional programs will also declare a major
in an area compatible with their professional objectives.
In addition, the College of General Studies
offers three degrees. They are: Bachelor of Science in
Interdisciplinary
Studies; Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies; and
Bachelor of Applied Technical Science.
